Information
Located on the second section of the Lower Parana Delta in Buenos Aires’ northeastern province, Delta Eco Lodge offers guests the chance to experience some first-class Golden Dorado fishing. There are not many cosmopolitan cities that have such an abundance of wilderness right on their doorstep.
Due to this, UNESCO designated it a “Biosphere Reserve” zone in 2000. The area where the lodge is based is where the legendary Parana River Basin, the second largest of its kind in South America, ends its journey and flows into the Rio de la Plata. This ecosystem consists of thousands of creeks, streams, channels, islands, and rivers, all providing the perfect habitat for the predatory Dorado.
ACCOMODATION
Hidden away, the intimate Delta Eco Lodge can host 6 rods in 3 guest rooms, all of which in very comfortable and double en-suite bedrooms. The lodge also includes an outside dining area and inside, one can be entertained in the living and dining room.
If staying overnight, breakfast is served al fresco during part of the season, and full-cooked breakfast is also available, together with fresh fruit, yogurts, home-baked bread and jams, and a selection of cereals.
The evening meal is served at 20.30 and is always a great way to end the day when staying overnight with an asado (BBQ) typically held during your stay – all prepared by the inhouse chef. Fresh and regionally representative meats and produce will be served and both lunch and dinner menus are paired with some of Argentina’s—and the world’s—best wines, Bodega Catena Zapata.
Lunch is either served waterside if you prefer fishing all day, or back at the lodge where one can enjoy a siesta before going out for the afternoon.
Non-Angling Activities
This is primarily a fishing lodge but activities such as canoeing and bird watching are available for the non-fishing guest. We can also recommend exploring the cultural life at the Delta, visiting museums, ecological reservoirs, and restaurants.

FISHING
Depending on whether only fishing for the day or having an overnight stay; the fishing schedule, is determined by you. But one can expect to fish 8 hours; split in to two sessions – a morning session and an evening session. The morning session typically starts just after breakfast when the guide will be ready and waiting to take you out on the water. Lunch, is either taken back at the lodge or prepared in advance and taken waterside. Fishing then continues until 18.00, which can change based on the time of year and daylight available. If fishing for the day, you will be taken back to the marina and transferred back to your hotel.
Under the guidance of Noel Pollack – perhaps Argentina’s biggest expert on Dorado fishing; you will have the chance to fish with either fly or lure – all included for in the trip. If bringing your own flyrod; we recommend fast action 8wt rods with tropical float and sink lines.
Fishing is mainly for the skiff, but wet wade fishing is also possible – all depending on where the dorado are at the time.
Being so close to Buenos Aires; many guests are often surprised by how truly authentic and how close the wilderness at Delta Eco Lodge is. It’s the ideal escape or ‘add-on’ trip for one or two nights for anglers travelling to or passing through Argentina.
TRAVEL
Guests fly into Buenos Aires International Airport and we highly recommend at least one overnight stay in the city, giving yourself time to relax after a long flight and acclimatise to the fabulous country. From Buenos Aires; drive time to the marina, where the guide and the skiff will be waiting, is about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the traffic. The boat run from the marina to the lodge is about 25 minutes through the Delta, even possibly stopping on the way to do some fishing.
When is the best time to visit?
Fishing is available year-round.
Typical Length of Stay
The typical length of stay at Delta Eco Lodge is one night and 2 days fishing; however being so close to Buenos Aires; some people may only want to go fishing for the day. Everything is possible.
