ATLANTIC SALMON

About

Salmo salar- the king of the fish. It is perhaps the most elusive anadromous fish to catch on the fly. Starting their life in rivers connected to the Atlantic Ocean, they will go out to sea to grow and will return to their river of birth to spawn after spending several years at sea. Although, their numbers and size have declined since the early 1980’s; it is still possible to catch fish over 40 pounds and even fish of 10 pounds will give the angler a fantastic fight.
